  • Dr. Richard Zayed
    McKenzie Zayed

I received my Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology at the University of Ottawa and completed my Clinical Psychology Residency at London Health Sciences Centre. I completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario (Western University). I am registered as a Psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario to provide services for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. I am the President of the London Regional Psychological Association and a member of the Ontario Psychological Association.

I have acquired a broad range of professional experience at a variety of locations, including the London Health Sciences Centre, the Royal Ottawa Health Care Group, the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO), the Centre for Psychological Services at the University of Ottawa, the Children’s Aid Society of Ottawa, and the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre. I have received specialized training in the assessment and treatment of Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, and of complex developmental trauma and its consequences, including attachment disturbances and disorders, dissociation, struggles with sexuality, and personality disorders.

Maintaining a diverse professional life is important to me. Our private practice is my main professional focus and I have been in practice for over nine years. I devote the majority of my private practice time to working directly with patients. Additionally, through our practice, I am involved in teaching, supervision, and community consultations/presentations. Outside of our practice, I provide psychological services at the Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI), a provincial tertiary care mental health centre for children, adolescents, and families, where I am the clinic lead for the Relational Trauma Services. I also hold the position of Adjunct Professor in the Departments of Psychology and Psychiatry at the University of Western Ontario (Western University).

All of my professional pursuits allow me to help nurture growth in other human beings, and I find that particularly true of my clinical work. I deeply respect the strength and courage required to move beyond personal difficulties and limitations, and to seek out growth and development, and I value the role I can play in that process. What I appreciate the most about our practice is our sharing of these values. We work very well together as a cohesive and collaborative group.
